It’s been just ninety-five years since women were given the right to vote in the United States – the 19th Amendment was ratified on August 18th, 1920 and certified into law eight days later, on August 26th. That same year, the League of Women Voters was founded. Dedicated to promoting good government, it is a non-partisan political organization that encourages the informed and active participation of citizens in government, helping spread awareness of public policy issues and registering citizens to vote. The Miami-Dade chapter of the League was organized in 1940.
